Oil Spill on Vermikuliet Street causes delays

It is believed that some of the oil containers gave way under the weight collapsing the load and making it fall off the truck.

POLOKWANE – An oil spill in Vermukeliet street between Lood and Emerald street has left the road surface covered in oil.

An oil spill has caused traffic disruptions on Vermikuliet Street.

The truck’s load fell over and off the truck. It is believed that some of  the oil containers gave way under the weight collapsing the load and making it fall off the truck.

Polokwane search and rescue teams arrived with buckets of sand to absorb the spill and help combat the road becoming slippery.

The Polokwane Fire Department are currently on the scene of the oil spill.

Traffic on the way to Ladanna is being diverted away either into an open field or into Futura, for their own safety.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
