Man accused of killing 3 and injuring 2 women along Matlala Road, granted bail

The accident occurred on Saturday morning along the Matlala Road.

POLOKWANE- Police spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the 53-year-old suspect appeared before the Seshego Magistrate Court on Monday, 22 May where he was granted R1000 bail.

The accident occurred at around 09h30 along the Leokama and Matlala tarred road near Seshego.

The women were on their way to a political rally in Seshego.

The ANC in Limpopo have says the accident is a tragedy and have expressed their sadness in the death of the three women.

The ANC says Nora Koenaite, Violet Veronica Ledwaba and Mavis Mmonoa were all ANC Women’s League members.

ANC Provincial Secretary, Nocks Seabi says the three women, along with the two other women who were seriously injured, were on their way to attend ‘The Molo Makhelwane Campaign’ at Segopye Village, when the accident happened.

He described the deceased as women who dedicated their lives in the betterment of society and the emancipation of women.

“We can never have appropriate words to appreciate their contribution in the life and blood of our organisation nor can we ever be able to express in articulate terms the depth of our sadness in their untimely departure,” said Seabi.

He also wished the two injured women a speedy recovery.

“Our deepest and heartfelt condolences go to the families, friends and relatives of the deceased. May their souls rest in peace,” he concluded.

The suspect will next appear on 28 May  to allow for further police investigation.
