Police in Tom Burke outside Lephalale arrested a 31-year-old in connection with the murder of his ex-girlfriend

LIMPOPO – The South African Police Service in Limpopo condemns the prevalence of incidents of women going missing and suffering violent deaths.

This comes after police in Tom Burke outside Lephalale arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend after she was reported missing recently.

The deceased, Florah Moatshe (23) from Mahlasedi village, went missing on 29 May.

According to Police SPokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, it is believed she had a fight with the suspect on the same day.
Police say the relentless effort by its members in investigating the case, coupled with the valuable assistance from community members, led to the arrest of the suspect and subsequent discovery of the deceased’s body buried in a shallow grave in bushes.

The suspect appeared before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on charges of kidnapping , assault and murder and his case was remanded to 13 June. He remains in custody.
Police investigations continue.
