SAPS cracks down on trio crimes in the province

Ongoing operations by various policing units in an effort to eradicate crime in the province continues to yield positive results.

POLOKWANE – This operation focusing on trio crimes, theft of cars, mushrooming of firearms and other serious crimes led to the arrest of 39 suspects and the recovery of  ten stolen cars and four illegal firearms in total.

In the Seshego cluster outside Polokwane, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested for theft of motor vehicles and the following vehicles were seized:

  • Red Toyota Corolla, stolen at Westonaria in the Gauteng Province.
  • Grey Toyota Corolla, engine numbers were tampered with.
  • Black Jeep Cheroke, engine numbers were tampered with.
  • White Mercedes Benz Vito, engine numbers were tampered with.

The estimated value of these four recovered vehicles is over R600 000.

In Ga-Mashashane village outside Polokwane, three suspects aged between 26 and 35-years-old, were arrested for a series of business robberies and ATM bombings which had been committed in the Lebowakgomo, Polokwane and Seshego Policing areas some weeks back.

A BMW vehicle used during the commission of these crimes was also recovered. The vehicle was discovered to have a false registration number.

Meanwhile in Dennilton, Nebo and Groblesdal ,two suspects aged 27 and 43-years-old were arrested for several cases of carjacking and theft of motor vehicles. During the arrest four stolen cars were recovered. The vehicles has been stolen in  Pretoria West ,Tembisa and Germiston in the Gauteng Province.

In Tubatse, Thohoyandou, Tzaneen, Dennilton, Mahwelereng, Westernburg ,BelaBela, Mokopane ,Saselamani and Makhado Policing areas, 33 suspects aged between 21 and 44-years-old were arrested for possession of stolen motor vehicles, common robberies, house
robberies, business robberies, etc. and the following were recovered:

  • Two stolen cars.
  • Four firearms and rounds of ammunition.
  • Four cell phones.

The suspects arrested during this operation will appear before the different Magistrate Courts soon.
