Adventure pony camp to keep kids busy this school holiday

The camp includes various activities which are both fun and educational

POLOKWANE – Keeping children busy during the school holiday can be a tricky task with most kids ending up in front of the television.

For John Mosime, keeping children both physically and mentally active is a priority and together with Broadlands Equestrian Centre, they set up the Adventure Pony Camp.

“We will run five days a week till the end of school holidays. Kids can come in old comfy clothes and wellys or takkies as we ride, learn about horse anatomy, go on out rides and clean boxes and the horses himself,” John said.

Activities include horse riding, nature walks, games in the grass arena (sport), picnic in the bushveld, survival life skills, handling and grooming, anatomy of a horse, saddler, plaiting a horse, first aid (Human), first aid (Horse), tack prep, mounted games, boxing of horse, breeds (colors and markings), washing of a horse, junior master chef, treasure hunts and many more.

John says kids should bring riding clothes, old clothes to play in, a cap, sun block, and money for tuck-shop.

On Wednesday, the children were given homework to do in that they had to:

1) Find a pulse

2) Learn about CPR
