Madalé Scheepers, optometrist and owner of Vision Works Mall of the North, is a medical professional, wife, mother and employer as well as an inspiration for many young girls who dream of following their career dreams.
The mother of two says it can be tricky to juggle home life and a career, but that she, like many other women, finds ways of making it work. “I am able to make it through each day thanks to a lot of patience, the grace of God and my wonderful husband,” she says.
Vision Works Mall of the North offers R90 cash for a comprehensive eye tests and stocks a wide variety of fashionable frames. “I do find that women are more open to wearing contact lenses, but there are so many frame options available these days that women prefer to wear glasses that compliment and highlight their personal style. Gone are the days when we hid behind our glasses,” says Scheepers.
She does, however, warn that contact lenses should be worn with care and that an annual eye test is crucial in keeping the contact lens wearer’s eyes healthy. Novelty contact lenses such as coloured lenses can be ordered and are even available for some prescriptions, but not all. She is also very proud of the range of frames available at her practice. These include Rayban, Vogue, Elle, Oakley, Guess, Armani, Levi and Vision Work’s own brands, Mó and Gigi to mention a few.
Vision Works is a small eye care organisation with a big heart, obsessed with the creation of excellence and the highest standards of eye care. Each Vision Works practice is dedicated to providing eye care experience on a personalised basis in the best interests of each and every patient. Vision Works optometrists are all registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
