Polokwane Municipality launched Women’s Month in the city this morning (Friday) when women attached to the Law Enforcement and Fire and Disaster Management Services of the municipality held a traffic blitz and awareness drive in Rissik Street.
The operation was also attended by Executive Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Safety, Eunice Maraba, who inspected a parade of officers in a closed-off part of the street.
The officials were joined by officers from the Department of Transport and the Police and the aim of the operation was to inspect vehicles for roadworthy, issuing of warrants, fire equipment and verification of public transport documentation and driver’s licences. Officials also took the opportunity educate motorists and to create awareness for road traffic safety and disaster management.
