The Mphogodiba Branch of the African National Congress (ANC) is among those reportedly in favour of branch member John Mpe and his collective to take over the leadership of Peter Mokaba Region when it goes to its elective conference likely to take place within two months from now.
The affirmation of the support for the Mpe leadership collective coincided with the annual New Year’s celebration of the branch held at Molepo Dam on Saturday with 75% representation of branches in Peter Mokaba Region reportedly in attendance unanimously affirming their support for the suggested collective.
Currently Mpe’s name is being proposed by his support base while that of Polokwane Executive Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng is as prominent as another frontrunner in the race for the position of regional chairperson.
It was learnt that also going to the provincial elective conference of the organisation the branch maintained a firm stance on unity, change and continuity. According to sources within the structure the names of ANC Provincial Chairperson Stan Mathabatha and ANC Provincial Treasurer Danny Msiza remained popular with branches in Peter Mokaba Region. At the same time the name of ANC Legislature member Soviet Lekganyane was among the favourites as a candidate from the region for Provincial Secretary’s position.
ANC Limpopo media liaison officer Aluwani Netsianda couldn’t be reached for information on possible dates for the two conferences.
