Mall of the North proved its role as leader in local economic growth over the Festive Season in December when more than 1 million people visited the mall for some of the best shopping and entertainment Limpopo had to offer.
Despite the difficult economic climate, mall tenants showed an average of 3% growth compared to December 2016. This on top of the success of Black Friday sales that took place on 24 November and where tenants reported an astonishing increase of 84%, General Manager of Mall of the North Sumari de Ridder said in a media release at the time.
The mall offered several entertainment activities including having photo’s taken with Santa Claus and fun rides in the mall’s overflow parking lot.
They also threw open their doors to the SPCA, Association for Persons with Disability (APD) and Cansa. These charities each set up gift wrapping stations where patrons could pay a small donation to have their Christmas gifts wrapped. The SPCA reported an income of R8 320, APD made R930 and Cansa collected R5 500 at these stations. Mall of the North is set to keep the ball rolling in the New Year with their Club Day in Edgars Court on Saturday and the Makhulu Mountain Bike Race on 17 February.
