As we celebrate Women's Day, we are taking the time to listen to what women have to say. We asked women if they could be anything in the world what would it be?
Tshilidzi Ratshibaya - " I would love to wake up and find myself already established as a world renowned chef with my name mentioned alongside cooking greats like Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey. It's what I'm working towards now but if I had the powers I would fast track it"
POLOKWANE – Women often carry a lot of responsibility and have to sacrifice a lot in order to keep their lives and families together, which in turn leaves them with unfulfilled dreams and very little room to become anything that they want to become.
Lerato Mmatshipi would have loved to be a social worker, but her life did not turn out that way. She did not manage to obtain a matric and she already is older than forty years old. She can however assist people in her own way with their problems.Melida Sithole would have loved to be a care-giver for children with no parents, and to help them. She grew up with no parents and know how difficult life could be.Mmabatho Matsebe – “If I had the opportunity to become absolutely anything that I want to be, I would like to take a couple of years and explore spirituality. I would become a Bhuddist bhikkhuni (nun) and go on a path to enlightenment.”Lerato Mokgehle said that she would be a teacher as growing up she had always wanted to be a teacher but due to finances she never got an opportunity to further her studies after completing her Gr 12.“I would like to build a number of colleges and schools to teach women how to be a woman of value. I’d also like to teach young men how to help, support and chose a woman for themselves to make sure that the next generation just gets better and better. I would like to have people skilled who can give people classes in things that will help them better their lives and I would like to do so without charging them anything. This way people will be able to support themselves and with a little luck there.Nthabiseng Molope – “I would want to switch roles with men and try to make them understand that abusing women is not okay at all. Them being women, I would give them a taste of their own medicines that abusing a woman is not okay at all.”“I think that the one thing that any woman can ask for is to be the best wife and mother. If I could do anything I would love to give my own family everything they need. I would also like to be able to help other mothers give their children everything they need. There are so many mothers who cry today because life is not easy and a lot of money is needed to help them. If I could, that would be my job,” Amanda Swarts says.Mmanare Nkoana said that she would be a doctor, so that she can help save lives.Queen Mapheto would love to be a cloud.
