The Democratic Alliance (DA), should it win the general elections next year, intends focussing on five key issues – corruption, crime, jobs, immigration and service delivery.
According to DA Provincial Leader and Premier candidate, Jacques Smalle, party is the only one taking clean, corruption free government seriously, a fact of which their track record in government speaks.
Smalle addressed community members in Seshego, Flora Park, Westenburg and Ivy Park during his ongoing listening tour campaign last week. “People who are stealing from the poor contribute to the high rate of poverty. People are living in poverty whilst they have got water, electricity, better jobs and basic amenities. So when we say we will jail those found guilty of corruption for 15 years, you know we will do it,” Smalle said.

Referring to the five key issues of their ‘agenda for change’ he stated: “These are the issues that really matter to South Africans. They are issues which only the DA has a clear and credible plan to deal with. Our message speaks to fighting corruption and state capture, and ridding our country of this scourge for good.”
He further stated that their message speaks to the crucial issue of employment and ensuring that all South Africans have fair access to real long-term sustainable jobs, a challenge which, according to him, the DA can overcome by harnessing the power of the private sector and entrepreneurs to create such jobs as they have proved in metros governed by the party.
Addressing matters of health care, securing the country’s borders to avoid uncontrolled immigration, delivery of basic services such as water and sanitation he said a DA government would lead on these matters to ensure dignity for all.
Lastly, he said, justice should be done to all, including the owning of land which should be secured through private property rights.
