Mrs Polokwane finalist wants to represent Post-Natal Moms in this year’s competition
Mapula Legodi (30) is a Mrs Polokwane Finalist who says she opted to enter into Mrs Polokwane to be an activist for Post Natal Mums who wish to enter beauty pageants but fear to because of insecurities.
POLOKWANE – As a mother of two and wife, Mapula says she noticed how mothers go through emotional abuse by other people’s expectations and are even driven to postnatal depression by it.
“Comments such as ‘why have you not lost baby fat’ and many other related questions can deter a woman. It is for this reason that women who have had children and have settled down in marriage are deemed as unattractive and hence, their spirit and confidence are crushed in the process. As a mother, this is my chance to help bring back that confidence and drive to still pursue dreams and aspirations, even after getting married and having children,” she added.
Mapula is a qualified Graphic Designer and the owner and founder of Lets Talk Vintage.
She uses her connections and visibility in the community to help those in need. One of her most recent events includes a blanket drive where she collected and donated 119 blankets to various homeless people, pre-schools as well as an old age home in Kwena Moloto, topped with a hot cup of soup, bread and prayer to heal the soul.
“This is my first time entering a beauty pageant and after extensive research, I found out that Mrs Polokwane is not necessarily only about beauty, but women empowerment and working with the community to ensure a better life for all. I thought why not? For me, development is in action so I had to put myself in a position where I’ll be able to measure my growth from here on going forward.
