The Library and Information Association of South Africa (Liasa) hosted a road show aimed at creating awareness about the organisation in Polokwane last Thursday when they met with officials from various government departments, tertiary institutions and community members in the province.
Kholofelo Kola, acting Chairperson of Liasa Limpopo Branch said the road show gave them an opportunity to engage members and non-members of the association. “Liasa is managed by its membership. Our objective was to meet with our members and stakeholders and make them conscious of the role and function of Liasa. We are the South African Qualifications Authority recognised Professional Body for Library and Information Services in South Africa that represents libraries and information institutions, all library and information workers, and all users and potential users of libraries in South Africa,” Kola explained.
“We want to develop and empower all people in the library and information field. We also represent the interests of and promote the development and image of library and information services in South Africa. We would like to see more people joining the association,” Kola ended.
Interested parties can contact Kola on 083 8812 023.
