Bulk water project in Makhado expected to be completed in 2020

The project was started in 2014 and first expected to be completed by 2016.

LIMPOPO – The Kutama-Sinthumule Bulk Water supply project in Makhado area is expected to be completed next year.

Lucy Kobe, Head of the Department Water and Sanitation went on a media tour of the project last Tuesday, confirming the expected completion.

The project was started in 2014 and first expected to be completed by 2016.

Construction of the pipeline is a continuation of the Nandoni Dam distribution. The pipeline starts from Valdezia Reservoir to Mowkop Reservior. A R515 million budget was set aside for this project and currently stands at R262 million.

The project is expected to bring a constant supply of clean water to Louis Trichardt and surrounding villages. According to Kobe, financial and administrative constraints were some of the major setbacks in failing to meet the deadline.

Giving a progress report, one of the engineers, Daniel Raseala, outlined some of the challenges such as the continuous breakdown of the plants and a shortage of material.
