Premier Stan Mathabatha has wished the Grade 12 class of 2019 good luck ahead of their final National Senior Certificate Examination that is set to start on 23 October and end on 28 November.
126 194 matric learners from the province are expected to sit for this year’s examinations at 1 656 accredited examination centres across the region.
Mathabatha was quoted in a statement to have said: “The time for your final examinations has arrived, I want to congratulate you for having made it this far. I know that for all of you, your teachers, and for your parents or guardians, this is a moment of pride, joy and great anticipation.
On behalf of the Provincial Government, I congratulate all our Grade 12 learners for having made it thus far and wish you all of the best in these examinations. I call on you to use the few remaining days before the exams effectively and prudently. This is the time to suspend all activities that are not helpful to your studies including time spent on Social Networks such as Facebook, Whatsapp, etcetera.”
“Always remember that there is no substitute to hard work. Through hard work, sacrifice and discipline you will attain the best results you are hoping for. I also wish to take this opportunity to remind those who have not yet applied for admission at various universities and Tvet colleges to spare a moment and submit their applications. In the same vein, I want to urge those who will require financial assistance to pursue their tertiary studies to equally submit their applications for the National Students’ Financial Aid Scheme. You must also be on the lookout for bursaries from various government departments and parastatals. To families and relatives, please let’s support our children. Any social and psychological challenges should be reported to the departments of Education and Social Development for assistance. I once again wish to extend my best wishes to you, and remember that there is no short cut to success,” concluded Mathabatha.
Spokesperson for the Department of Education in Limpopo, Sam Makondo said they have appointed 6 258 markers who will be tasked with marking the examination papers from 30 November until 11 December. The results will be announced on 8 January.
