Premier Stan Mathabatha is at present applying his mind to the resignation letter submitted by Department of Education Head of Department (HOD), Beauty Mutheiwana at the end of last week and an announcement is expected to be made in due course.
This was announced by acting Provincial Government spokesperson, Mamogo Ntuli yesterday (Wednesday) morning when she indicated that the Office of the Premier could not at that stage venture into the details of the resignation since it remained a matter between employer and employee.
Although Ntuli could not divulge as to exactly when Mutheiwana tendered her resignation she confirmed that it had been submitted to Mathabatha and was being processed.
Ntuli emphasised that: “HODs in terms of the legislation, by definition are accounting officers of their respective provincial departments. Being responsible for the administration of their departments, they are accountable to the Executing Authority, in this context, the Premier of the province. Their appointments and termination thereof is the competence of the Premier. Therefore, the Office of the Premier confirms receipt of a letter of resignation from the Accounting Officer of the Department of Education.”
