Excellence awarded as Mediclinic Limpopo celebrates International Nurses Day

Mediclinic celebrated International Nurses Day by presenting the Nursing Excellence Award to a standout nurse.

POLOKWANE – At the beginning of their career as well as every day thereafter nurses pledge to be of service to other humans and endeavour to practice their profession with conscience and dignity.

On 12 May, nurses across the world celebrate International Nurses Day and at Mediclinic Limpopo the nurses are celebrated in some unique ways.

Mediclinic takes the special day to recognise their nurses and their contribution within the community. The staff votes for a colleague to receive the Nursing Excellence Award, and this year, Mancha Mothomogolo won this award after 18 of her colleagues nominated her.

Patients Experience Manager, Istha Mcmillan says this day is celebrated to recognise each nurse who has chosen a career of caring for others.

“This award is a symbol of appreciation and recognition for the care Mancha delivers to her patients and supporting her colleagues. We recognise that behind each excellent nurse is a team of great nurses, making the nomination by those around her even more significant.”

Charmaine Kekana: Mancha is in the emergency centre unit that I manage. I am very proud of her as she deserves this award. She is hardworking and has good people skills. The way she deals with patients and their families is remarkable.
Tlou Makgotlho: Nominating Mancha was easy as she is dedicated, humble and reliable. She freely helps wherever she sees the need. She does not only care about her patients but also about her colleagues.
Anna Mabitsela: Mancha is a dedicated nurse that lives the Mediclinic values. She cares for her patients and is performance-driven. She is always willing to help and does not wait for instructions but rather asks where she can assist. She is proactive and not scared of challenges.
