[LISTEN] Two men killed in early-morning crash in Lephalale
This is a second fatal collision reported in the Waterberg district in the past 24 hours.
LIMPOPO – Two men were killed instantly when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned after a head-on collision outside Lephalale on Tuesday (August 17). Three others sustained serious injuries, one critical, said the media liaison officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Mike Maringa.Â
The vehicle incident happened on the R520 Vaalwater road outside Lephalale and involved a bakkie and sedan.
“It is alleged the bakkie collided with an oncoming sedan and overturned. Two occupants from the bakkie died on impact while three other people were rushed to a private hospital for medical treatment.”
Maringa explained that two of the injured people sustained serious injuries, while the third was in a critical condition.

On Monday (August 16) five people lost their lives while nine others were injured after a minibus and a sedan collided head-on.
The incident happened along the R510 road outside Northam at 05:00.
“Four people were certified dead on the scene while a fifth died on the way to a hospital. Of the nine people injured, three sustained serious injuries while another six sustained minor injuries,” Maringa said in an earlier post.
Negligent driving and speeding has cited as the possible cause of this incident.
