Nirvana residents voice water issues
Residents of the ward were of the view that the water reservoir in their neighbourhood was intended for their needs.
POLOKWANE – A group of Nirvana residents requested some time to voice their service delivery issues to second ANC secretary general, Maropene Ramokgopa during her Ward 19 door-to-door campaign in November, along with Peter Mokaba regional chairperson and Mayor John Mpe.
The campaign was held in the run-up to the 2024 provincial and national elections.
The delegate representative of the predominantly Indian community hosted the ANC leaders at the Nirvana community hall and said the continuous cuts in the supply of water needs to be resolved as a matter of urgency.
Residents of the ward were of the view that the water reservoir in their neighbourhood was intended for their needs, but the municipality corrected this notion by saying it was in fact, meant to service residents of Ivy Park.

“The reservoir supplies Ivy Park residents. Nirvana will share the new Seshego plant, once it is fully functional,” ANC Peter Mokaba region spokesperson Adolph Rapetswa told Polokwane Observer.
For now, it is supplied by Olifantspoort sharing with most areas of the city’s residential areas.
Rapetswa said Mpe has promised results.
“In the short term, the mayor said the municipality would engage the director responsible to explore possibilities of extracting underground water through the drilling of boreholes,” he mentioned.
In the past months, aggrieved residents held several meetings among themselves to discuss ways to approach the municipality about the situation. In one instance, in a ward meeting joined by ward councillor, Joosuf Pemma – they demanded that he organised a meeting with Mpe to explain why they did not have water.
