CCBSA bursaries close on Jan 31
The Study Buddy Fund provides financial and holistic support to indigent students who meet entry requirements for access to higher education institutions.
POLOKWANE – Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is giving qualifying matriculants and first-time university applicants an opportunity to further their studies, through the Study Buddy Fund bursary programme that pays for full tuition, accommodation fees and textbooks.
The programme’s primary objective is to support academically deserving students to realise their dreams. Thus far, the programme has assisted over 100 young people in the four years that it has been running, at an investment of over R8 million.
Nozicelo Ngcobo, CCBSA public affairs, communication and sustainability director indicated that the Study Buddy Fund forms part of their economic inclusion commitments to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds with the focus on enhancing their prospects of finding sustainable employment upon completing their studies.
The Study Buddy Fund provides financial and holistic support to indigent students who meet entry requirements for access to higher education institutions.
The fund comprises four pillars:
• The Host Community Bursary Programme, which provides scholarship support to academically strong students from indigent backgrounds who meet entry requirements for access to universities.
• The University Partnership which provides funding to students already at university but who do not have bursaries and/or National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funding and are often regarded as the ‘missing middle’.
• The TVET College Support targets young people in CCBSA host communities who did not meet university entrance requirements. Instead, the scholarship support focuses on technical skills development and finally,
• Ligbron; an E-Learning platform using technology to improve the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.
The requirements are a Gr 12 bachelors’ admission and an acceptance from a South African university.
Applicants must be in Gr 12 in the recruiting year or applying for first year in university, must not be affiliated with Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa or its affiliates and must have applied to an accredited South African tertiary institution.
Applications for the 2024 Study Buddy Fund bursary close on January 31. Send an e-mail to studybuddyfund@gradesmatch.co.za for more information.
