Charges: Calls for EFF Polokwane councillor to be replaced
EFF provincial chairperson Tshilidzi Maraga said a mandate to comment on Seshoka's arrest from the national office was still outstanding.
POLOKWANE – The magistrate presiding in the case involving Jacob Seshoka, an EFF ward councillor and five other accomplices on Monday called for the consolidation of the six separate cases.
The representative counsels had however not had adequate time to prepare to do so immediately, and requested for an adjournment to yesterday (Wednesday) for the scheduling of bail applications.
The men have been charged with being in the possession of stolen unlicensed firearms and ammunition after a break-in at police premises on December 14.
It is not yet clear in whose property the state arms were found.

They were nabbed during an intelligence driven-operation in Seshego and Moletjie, where among others, 400 live rounds of ammunition, pistols and rifles were confiscated. They remained in custody.
Calls have been mounting from Action SA, an opposition party with a stronghold in Seshoka’s presiding Ward 10, for city speaker Wilhelmina Modiba to relieve Seshoka of his duties as ward councillor for Moletjie, Blood River and Makgofe.
Last week, Modiba assured that an internal process would be followed to determine if Seshoka was indeed involved. She is of the view that the outcome of the court will play a crucial role in determining the truth.
EFF provincial chairperson Tshilidzi Maraga said a mandate to comment on Seshoka’s arrest from the national office was still outstanding but that the party would release a statement in due course.
The outcome of the bail hearing was not immediately available at the time of going to press.
