Local Toddler kicks off school year with water day
Local Toddler Pre-Primary welcomes students back with a water fun day, creating a positive environment that supports development.

POLOKWANE – The combination of water and sun usually results in a lot of fun for young and old.
On Friday, the toddlers at Local Toddler Pre-Primary were officially welcomed back to the school with a fun day.
A water slide, splash pools and other water-related items were part of the day.
Principal Henriette Grobler says a fun and welcoming day at school is important for children as it creates a positive learning experience that supports their emotional, social and academic development.
“A welcoming and fun school environment sets a strong foundation for lifelong learning and well-being.”
1. It encourages a love for learning: “When school is enjoyable, children associate learning with fun and curiosity, making them more eager to participate and engage in lessons”.
2. It reduces stress and anxiety: “A welcoming atmosphere helps ease any fears and nervousness that children might have, especially on their first day or new environments. This allows them to focus on learning rather than feeling overwhelmed.”
3. It boosts a child’s confidence and self-esteem: “When children feel accepted and valued, they are more likely to express themselves, take risks, and believe in their abilities”.
4. It strengthens their social skills: “A positive school experience helps children make friends, develop teamwork skills and learn the importance of kindness and cooperation”.
5. It improves behaviour and motivation: “Children who feel happy and comfortable at school are more likely to be engaged, motivated and display positive behaviour in the classroom”.
6. It supports academic success: “A child who feels safe and enjoys being at school is more likely to focus, participate, and perform well academically”.
7. It encourages attendance and participation: “When a school is a fun place, children are excited to attend, reducing absenteeism and increase involvement.”
