Murder trial of Solly Galane postponed again in Polokwane High Court
The trial of Solly Galane, accused of murdering Phuti Mamabolo, was postponed again, deepening the anguish for her family and supporters.
POLOKWANE – The long-awaited trial of Solly Galane, accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Phuti Mamabolo, resumed briefly on Monday at the Polokwane High Court where it was postponed yet again.
Galane faces three charges: murder, reckless and negligent driving, and assault.

The murder and driving charges relate to a June 2022 incident in which Mamabolo was fatally struck by a vehicle, suspected to have been driven by Galane.
The assault charge stems from a separate incident in March 2022, when Galane allegedly attacked Mamabolo while out on bail.
During Monday’s proceedings, Galane pleaded guilty to the assault charge but denied responsibility for the murder and reckless driving charges.

The trial, however, could not proceed as planned after Galane’s Legal Aid-appointed defence attorney requested a postponement due to conflicting commitments.
The matter has now been rescheduled to continue from next Wednesday through Friday.
The repeated delays have added to the anguish of Mamabolo’s family.
The Lentswe Laka Foundation, a victim empowerment organisation that has supported the family since 2022, expressed disappointment at the postponement.
“Each delay deepens the trauma for the Mamabolo family,” said founder Maletse.
