R100 000 reward offered to find killer of Tzaneen Roman Catholic priest

Police are offering a R100 000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect who shot William Banda at a Tzaneen church in 2024.

TZANEEN – The Limpopo police are offering a R100 000 reward for information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved in the murder of Roman Catholic priest William Banda (36).

The incident occurred on the morning of March 13, 2024, at the Tzaneen Roman Catholic Church, where Banda was preparing for a sermon.

The Limpopo police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba, said an unknown man entered the church posing as a congregant before drawing a firearm and shooting the priest multiple times.

“The suspect fled the scene in a white vehicle with no registration plates. Emergency Medical Services declared Banda dead on the scene,” his statement read.

A case of murder has been opened and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
