Controlled blasting to take place at Green Arch site in Polokwane

Controlled blasting will take place from July 7–10 at the Green Arch Development in Polokwane, with safety protocols in place.

POLOKWANE – Residents and businesses in the city are advised that controlled blasting operations will be carried out at the Green Arch Development site from July 7 to 10.

The site is located at the corner of Grobler and Oost streets, adjacent to the Greenery Shopping Centre.

The Green Arch Precinct is a mixed-use development that will comprise three office blocks, an intended four-star hotel, serviced apartments, and a selection of upmarket retail spaces designed to complement the adjacent shopping centre.

Site work has started with part of the basement and the first office block.

The Polokwane Municipality’s spokesperson Thipa Selala said the contractor, Northern Blasters, will charge explosives at 09:00, with blasting scheduled to take place daily between 13:00 and 15:00 during the period.

“We assure the public that all safety protocols will be strictly observed, and while minimal disruption to nearby business operations is expected, blasting times may vary slightly due to weather or other safety considerations,” his statement read.

Selala urged affected stakeholders to remain alert and follow any additional instructions issued on-site during this period.
