This is when water will return to Polokwane after LNW shutdown
Lepelle Northern Water says supply to Polokwane will be restored once upgrades at Olifantspoort Pump Station are complete.
POLOKWANE – Water supply to Polokwane is expected to be restored by 18:00 tomorrow (September 12), following a 48-hour shutdown under the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort Upgrade Project.
Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) confirmed that the shutdown, which began in the early hours of Wednesday (September 10) is halfway complete.

LNW’s spokesperson Joe Makhafola said the planned work involves connecting Pump Station 1 at Olifantspoort which is a key part of the larger upgrade project aimed at boosting supply reliability.

“Progress has been steady despite delays caused by hard rock formations that contractors had to break through to connect new delivery pipes. Welding and pipe connection inspections are being conducted in parallel to ensure compliance with quality standards,” his statement read.

Makhafola added that once completed, the project will deliver new pumps and motors at the Olifantspoort Plant, which will improve the sustainability and reliability of water supply to Polokwane and surrounding communities.
