Sabatani Mridha, a member of the Limpopo Impala u/15 cricket team, says sport in general can enhance one's confidence and open up new opportunities.
POLOKWANE- Sabatani Mridha, a Gr 9 learner at Taxila Secondary School wishes to see young girls at her school playing cricket too.
Sabatani is a member of the Limpopo Impala u/15 cricket team and is eager to achieve more in the cricket world.
She says sport in general can enhance one’s confidence and open up new opportunities.
“I am currently the only girl who plays cricket at my school. My wish is to see more girls from my school exploring the sport.
“Many girls say they are afraid of being hit by the hard ball, but cricket really is fun. I prefer to bat and hit the ball hard. Most girls play netball, but I opted for cricket.”
She says her most memorable moments were touring to Gauteng with the provincial u/15 cricket team.
“I had fun and I batted well. We played against strong opponents and I had the opportunity to meet national cricketers such as Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada.”
She said it was a tour to remember, and she wishes to one day play for the SA women’s side.
