POLOKWANE – Reading took centre stage as Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (PEMPS) celebrated World Book Day on April 23 by wearing hats inspired by book characters.

Gr 4-7 learners got to know more about the school library and how to borrow books, while learners in the lower grades received books in their classes to read.

The organiser of the event, Andrea Wiggill explained that the school celebrated the day as books are a key to another world with endless knowledge.

“With events like these, we teach learners how to read and respect books. This year, the focus is on the library to give learners the confidence to go and borrow books to read,” she said.
