Local boxing fans revelled in the opportunity to attend a professional boxing event hosted by Limpopo Boxing Promotions at Meropa Casino & Entertainment on Friday evening.
The main fight of the evening was the World Boxing Federation’s (WBF) international title contest in the junior welterweight category between Nkululeko Mhlongo from KwaZulu-Natal and Frans Ramabolo from Gauteng. After an entertaining 12 rounds it was Ramabolo’s hand that the referee raised at the end.
In the first match of the evening local bantamweight Tshwarelo Moshoeneng took on Gauteng fighter Tiisetso Modisadise. Having given Moshoeneng a hard time in the ring, Modisadise was declared the winner after round four.
The second match, between local lightweight Oupa Mangena and Anthony Maloisane from Free State, was over before the end of the first round with Maloisane remaining in attack mode since the very start of the match.
In the bantamweight match between Northwest fighter Clautus Mbele and Mxolisi Nambewu from Gauteng, Mbele cried victory.
