Polokwane parkrun celebrates 1st birthday

Polokwane parkrun is turning one and it promises to be an unforgettable event at the municipal park opposite Hoër Tegniese Skool Tom Naudé on Saturday.
At 08:00 the usual 5 km walk/run will start followed by the celebration in the form of a birthday cake, decorations and picnic.
Polokwane parkrun Event Director Felicity Roberts invited people to bring a basket and enjoy a picnic in the park spending some time with other parkrun participants.
“We hope that park runners will make an extra effort to attend as well as create a festive atmosphere. While we offer fresh air, a beautiful park and company, we hope to set a record amount of runners/walkers on Saturday,” she said, adding that they would also like to acknowledge their regular sponsors on the day.
Polokwane parkrun was hosted for the first time in accompany of nine time Comrades winner Bruce Fordyce on 11 April last year.
