Premier Stan Mathabatha has congratulated Baroka Football Club for advancing to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup after they beat provincial mates Polokwane City Football Club 2-0 at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Mathabatha who was at the stadium during the fiercely contested game, said although he would have wanted both teams to win, he was happy to see one team from the Province advancing to the semi-finals.
“I think it is our wish that we see Baroka and Orlando Pirates at the finals, and we pray those finals will be played here in Polokwane,” Mathabatha is quoted to have said in media statement.
In semi-finals Baroka will play Super Sport United who beat Mpumalanga Aces 2-1 on Saturday while, Pirates, who eliminated Sundowns from the competition, will battle it out against Free State Stars in the semi-final match.
Dates and venues of the match will be announced in due course by the Premier Soccer League.
