The arrangements for the International Female Ride Day (IFRD) have been finalised and it seems that bikers are in for some good fun on 7 May.
IFRD is a campaign for women motorcycle riders with the purpose of highlighting and profiling the high number of women riders enjoying the sport and for the first time local lady bikers are planning to participate by conducting a local mass ride on.
“It is an all brands, all forms and all styles worldwide ride. All riders are invited to participate and join in on the universal ride day action themed Just Ride,” Lady Bikers South Africa, an agent for IDRD, provincial representative Mariaan Coetzee said.
The programme will commence with riders gathering at KR Motorcycles in Schoeman Street at 07:00 for coffee and bikers’ briefing.
At 08:00 the group will depart to Comanche Spur in Mokopane where more bikers will join the group. At 09:00 the mass ride will make its way to Biker Boys in Mookgophong where yet another group of bikers will join in the ride before leaving for Bouncy Croc on the Marken Road at 10:00 where the rest of the day will be spent.
The party will make use of the R101. The mass ride will be organised with a road captain leading the way and giving the pace as well as traffic officials and marshalls to ensure road users’ safety.
The men will not be left out totally as provision will be made for them to join the mass ride. Coetzee said several meal and activity options are available at the venue. For more information call her on 084 620 2550 or email at mariaancoetzee@gmail.com.
