Chess players ready for SA Junior Championships

Junior chess players from over the province gathered at Northern Academy Secondary School on Saturday to qualify for the South African Junior Chess Championships that will take place in Boksburg, Gauteng from 16 to 19 December.
“The event was well attended and we had 260 players that competed,” Frans Badenhorst, convenor of the competition said.
Saturday’s winners were Alex Marais, u.10; Lethabo Leso, u.12; Modupi Malope, u.14; Lenon Ngomana, u.16 and Mohlomphegi Mampane, u.20.
Badenhorst could not supply the names of the schools involved because most of the players had entered the competition as individuals.
