Only a few people pitched for the Democratic Alliance (DA) Fun Run for Better Service Delivery on Saturday at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium but the organisers still managed to pull off a successful event.
Organiser and DA councillor Mariette Pretorius said they are planning on hosting the 5 km event annually with the main aim to be visible and to bring the message across that the DA is serious about bringing change to the city especially when it comes to service delivery.
“Residents of Polokwane are our first priority and that is why we keep on focussing on basic service delivery such as water supply, maintenance on potholes, pavements and street lights and general neatness of the city,” Pretorius said. Even though the race was not about winning, mother and son, Elizna and André Kotze were the first to finish the race in the women’s and men’s categories respectively.
