Oval racing enthusiasts can look forward to some serious adrenaline rushing action when Polokwane Oval hosts the annual Winter Trophy on Saturday.
Spectators should bring blankets as a cold night is expected but Polokwane Oval Promoter Andries Marx said the excitement of the action on the race track will keep those without blankets warm throughout the night.
“For the first time Polokwane Oval will host The Legends as surprise class. The vintage lookalike vehicles with high performance engines are sure to have every spectator’s eyes on the track,” Marx said.
Besides the surprise class, the regular classes such as Rookies, Hotrods, Sprints and 1660s will also be seen on the track. “It is the coldest but hottest race of the year,” Marx said.
Gates open early afternoon and the race is expected to start at 16:00. Adults need to pay R50 entry fee while children between 10 and 16 years pay R20. Children under 10 years enter for free. For more information contact Marx on 072 797 6897.
