Magezi ready for NFD challenge

Magezi Football Club regards their recent promotion to the National First Division (NFD) as a huge breakthrough and is inspired to live up to expectations and be a force to reckon with in the division.
Overcoming Kings United from KwaZulu-Natal 5-3 on Sunday not only gave them the trophy and title of 2016 ABC Motsepe League champions but also the much desired advance to move into the NFD. The club’s Head Coach Jacky Ledwaba said the plan was to do well in the division and compete for top honours. “We are happy to have won the play-offs finals as we have been waiting for this moment for a long time. People may not know but this was our third time in the finals and we are glad that we finally made the breakthrough. We don’t want to be unrealistic by saying that we want to go straight to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) because football is an unpredictable and interesting game but we definitely want to do well in the division,” he said.
Ledwaba, a former Amazulu player who won the PSL Top Goal Sorer Award in the 2003/04 season while playing for Thanda Zulu Royal thanked Club Chairperson Solly Makhubele for supporting him, the players and his technical team. “Our chairperson has been supportive throughout the campaign. He was always there for us and we want to thank him,” Ledwaba said.
Asked if they will be going into the market to buy new players ahead of the new season Ledwaba said they will hold a meeting soon to discuss player movements and other club matters.
The team and management is set to go through an induction process which includes the PSL Compliance Manual that covers a number of important aspects of club management.
