Black Leopards Football Club recently hosted open trials in Polokwane and Thohoyandou in order to strengthen their squad for the upcoming 2016/17 National First Division (NFD) campaign.
The Venda outfit finished ninth in last season’s NFD campaign and are looking to boost their squad with new talent from the public after failing to win the division with seasoned players.
According to Club Spokesperson, Berry Ramunenyiwa the trails attracted players from as far as Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
“We had a huge turnout in Polokwane and Thohoyandou and this overwhelmed us.
“In Thohoyandou we had nearly 127 soccer players from whom the technical team selected only four players for assessment. In Polokwane we hosted 109 soccer players and the technical team only chose three. They are also being assessed.
“We will reveal the names of the chosen players once we receive a report from technical team,” Ramunenyiwa said.
He also mentioned they will retain all their star players, including Siphelele Ntshaganse and Roggert Nyundu who are reportedly been lured by big clubs in Gauteng “Both players are still with us and they will be travelling with the team to Swaziland for a pre season camp next month,” Ramunenyiwa said.
