Five local Black Ball Pool players were chosen to represent Limpopo at the u.18 South African Black Ball Pool Championships in Bloemfontein from 6 to 10 July.
Japie Wentzel, Calvin Vorster, Werner Viljoen, Ruan Joubert and Nikhita Mahne came out tops during the recent provincial trials
Team Manager Naas Vorster said it is hoped that Black Ball Pool will create interest among people especially the younger generation.
“Pool is no longer a bar game. On 2 July we will be hosting an awareness campaign at Savannah Mall where pool tables will be available and shoppers given the opportunity to off their skills or even to take on one of the Limpopo players,” Vorster said.
Black Ball Pool is hoping to grow the club in numbers and interested people are more than welcome to talk to its members during the promotional event at Savannah which will start early morning.
“We hope to lure learners in order to create our own league. By doing this we will be able to promote the competitive aspect of the game amongst youngsters and to hopefully have bigger teams representing Limpopo at national level,” Vorster said.
Interested parties can phone Vorster on 083 635 0586.
