In an effort to promote blackball pool and to raise money for the junior Limpopo team, Polokwane Blackball Pool players held a promotional event at Savannah Mall on Saturday. The team will participate at upcoming the national championships.
The u.18 Limpopo team were present during the event to challenge any person feeling fit enough to face the province’s best. “It was a great success. We had several people showing some interest and who will definitely join the league. The main aim was to lure especially younger players in order for Limpopo to establish its own league,” Team Manager Naas Vorster said.
He added that people from neighbouring towns indicated to join Polokwane Blackball Pool to establish a sustainable and competitive league and to maintain the competitive aspect of the sport.
Galactic Auto Polokwane Dealer Principal Thys de Kock won the speedball competition. “During speedball a player is timed from start until he sinks all the balls. De Kock did that in a marvellous 1 minute 33 seconds,” Vorster said.
The Limpopo team already departed for Bloemfontein to participate in the u.18 South African Blackball Pool Championships which started yesterday (Wednesday) until Sunday.
