The Limpopo para volleyball team was identified as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club (MCC) Rally to be hosted at the Polokwane Show Grounds.
The team’s Public Relations Officer, Moloko Thete indicated that they are very happy and looking forward to working with Sapa Yopa MCC and that they have already submitted their list of needs. “We are not yet sure in which manner they are going to assist us and if we do get any funds we would like to buy a new kit for our provincial team,” Thete said.
Para volleyball, also known as sitting volleyball is a form of volleyball for athletes with disability which is recognised as a Paralympic game since 1976.
According to Sapa Yopa MCC President Johz Mamabolo this year’s rally will be hosted under a sports theme and they will focus on helping underprivileged local sport clubs which include the para volleyball team.
Mamabolo is expecting 8 000 bikers to flock to the city from 1 to 3 December to attend the biggest biker rally on the Africa continent and has confirmation from bikers coming from as far as Nigeria to attend the rally.
“The event promises to be bigger than ever. Last year 7 600 bikers joined the rally and we hope to exceed 8 000 this year. We will once again proceed on a mass ride to Turfloop where donations will be handed over to beneficiaries. Spectators will also be treated to some daring activities by stunt riders,” Mamabolo said.
