In Comrades Marathon circles one is considered a novice until you’ve finished a race. Polokwane Athletic Club (PAC) runner Monique Jacobs is not only the youngest athlete in the club to participate in this year’s Comrades but also a second time entrant who will attempt to complete the race for the first time.
Last year Jacobs could not finish the race but considers it a good learning session for this year’s attempt. “With approximately
830 km of training behind me I believe that I am ready for this year’s race. I changed my strategy and has put a lot of effort in my preparation,” Jacobs said.
She didn’t follow a special diet prior to the race and the only important factor for her is to stay hydrated during the event.
“I am very excited about this year’s Comrades. It has been a dream of mine to complete the race and I am geared and motivated in every aspect.”
