With only four weeks left before the start of the 2019/2020 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, Black Leopards Football Club is eager to go all the way and clinch their first league title.
The Venda based outfit was nearly relegated from the elite league last season after ending the 2018/2019 PSL campaign in the 13th position.
The outcome prompted Lidoda Duvha to go into the market and bring in Thabo Matlaba, Mogokolodi Ngele and Thuso Phala, all seasoned players with international caps.
Ngele is a Botswana international soccer player who has won PSL tittles with Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits. He was part of the Platinum Stars squad the won the Telkom Knockout and MTN 8 titles in 2013.
Matlaba won MTN 8, Nedbank Cup and PSL title with Orlando Pirates in the 2011/2012 PSL season.
Phala has appeared at both the 2013 and 2015 African Cup of Nations with Bafana Bafana and has won the Nedbank Cup with Super Sport United.
Club Spokesperson, Barry Ramunenyiwa said the team is ready to compete and fight for the PSL title. “We did not do well last season. We were and we are still on the building phase but I think with the players we have brought in the team for the upcoming season we will compete for the league title and other titles on offer in the PSL. We are not a small team and we don’t want to see ourselves languishing at the bottom of the league every season. We played last season with the National First Division (NFD) squad that promoted us to the PSL and I think they got valuable experience from those matches they have played. What we can promise our supporters is that we will do better in the next campaign.”
