The eighth annual Mazda Nite Race hosted at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday was once again well attended by professional athletes as well as amateurs and those wanting to enjoy a safe night out of jogging.
According to Polokwane Athletic Club Chairperson Pieter Pretorius almost 700 athletes participated of which 268 entered for the 10 km race and hundreds of runners entering for the 5 km.
Among the athletes were walkers and even mothers pushing babies in strollers joining in the fun.
JJ van der Merwe was first to cross the finish line in the 10 km with a time of 31:58 while G Ramashia finished first in the women’s category with a time of 41:15.
