Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) held its annual general meeting recently and welcomed the newly elected board headed by President Dawid Roodt.
During the meeting the way forward after lockdown was discussed as well as plans and new changes to the cricket board.
Before the announcement of the new board, former LIC President, John Mogodi highlighted various achievements of the union both on and off the field. He mentioned the move of Limpopo cricket to the seventh position after being in position 12 at the beginning of 2019.
New board:
Dawid Roodt (President).
John Mogodi (Vice-President governance and administration and CSA Member council representative).
Ruan Vorster – (Vice-President cricket affairs).
Roodt thanked Mogodi for his leadership and commitment to the organisation. “I would like to thank the members for the confidence they have shown in me and I intend on leading the organisation to greater heights.” Dawid says that his love for the sport started at the age of nine when he started playing. When he is not hard at work with cricket he is a labour consultant in the city.
To improve cricket in the province, Roodt will identify areas such as Seshego where he would like to develop the sport with the help of KFC mini cricket. He adds that he would like to see more women get involved in the sport.
