Sizzling Snr Sunday play-offs

The Polokwane Basketball Academy is hosting the Senior Sunday play-offs, which is a competitive league hosted annually.
The play-offs feature teams within the Polokwane Municipality area that are currently playing for the 2020 title. The quarter-finals took place at the basketball courts in Nirvana on Sunday, 6 December and saw 12 teams go head-to-head in a bid to achieve a spot in the top four.
The semi-finals will be played on Sunday, 13 December.
The secretary for the academy, Koketso Mabotsa says they managed to secure four women teams that are also taking part but they hoped to have as many male teams as women.
“The play-offs are meant to motivate and encourage more people to take part in the sport as much as celebrate those who are doing well in the sport.”
Mabotsa says they could use more support from the community, and people are welcome to come and watch the games and interact with the players. “The basketball community offers a vibrant space which is ideal for anyone that has an interest in the sport. Come join us and you might even leave a professional.”
The play-offs will start at 11:00 on Sunday.
