Full throttle for local racers
The Capricorn Racing Club hosted their first post lockdown event on Saturday, 20 February in Polokwane.
According to the chairperson of the club, Conrad Nieuwoudt the event saw a good turnout.
“The nature of our sport enabled us to host a great race day while maintaining social distancing and keeping everyone safe.
“We look forward to more and exciting events in the near future,” he added.
The racing included a junior race track for beginners and senior track for 65cc, 58cc and 125cc bikes as well as veterans and masters.
“It felt really great being back on the track, especially after it was prepped so well. It is one of my favourite stress relief activities.
“The competition was tough but quite enjoyable, the up-and-coming racers are really pulling out all the stops.
“I think that is what I missed the most – good composition and seeing the younger generation participating,” said Jarrid van der Merwe, one of the riders who competed in the opening mix class.
