Endurance shown at Sondela

MOKOPANE – Audrey’s Riding School along with four of the Dynamic-Equest Academy Club Members showed how it should be done at the Sondela endurance ride on August 1.

Out of all six horses, everyone successfully finished the ride.

It is the most important factor for every rider to complete without injuring or over-exerting their horse.

The following riders entered as competitive riders with their respective horses and completed a successful 80 km ride: Sarie Pieters standard weight on Pula, Audrey Marais heavyweight on Comet, Rochelle Louw standard weight on Arkab Azeer and Estelle Benade standard weight on Sylvretta Harrieth.

The rider who entered as novice rider and completed a successful 80 km is Inge Prinsloo on Al-Asfan-Faris. Last but, definitely not least, Gina ‘O Farrell on Arkab Tanzi completed a 40 km as a novice rider, which was also her maiden ride.

The riding school is also proud to mention that Audrey Marais and Comet took a first place in the heavyweight class and completed her recorded 5 039 km, along with Comet completing her total of 2 330 km without any disqualifications.

This is a massive achievement for both rider and horse.

Also new to the competitive track and a student of Audrey’s Riding School, Estelle Benade and Sylvretta Harrieth took the third place, Sarie Pieters on Pula took fourth place and Rochelle Louw on Arkab Azeer fifth place in the standard weight class.

The riding school wants to thank the brilliant young grooms, Simone Mostert, Sebastian Mostert, Abigail McAlpine, Anri van der Westhuizen, Kayla Pieters and Cariska Pieters, for doing everything when and where it was needed. “They make sure our horses are fed and groomed at all times. It is essential for every rider to have a groom that really goes the extra mile and the grooms have come such a long way in a really short time. We are extremely proud to have these grooms on our team.”

A special thanks to all the family and supporters for the warm meal and best of luck to all the riders who will be riding at Capricorn on Saturday.
