LIMPOPO – SOCCER was on the menu at the Marula Mine sport grounds on Sunday.
Milano FC and Wake Up 2015 FC battled it out in the Marula Platinum Mine Tournament (MPMT) in Driekop. Wake Up 2015 beat Milano FC 2-0.
Both teams played an attacking game from the start. Wake Up 2015 capitalised on their opponents mistakes to score a fantastic goal by Temosho Mabilu in the 75th minute. An own goal from Christopher Marape in the 83rd minute saw Wake Up 2015 advance to the next round.
Wake Up 2015 coach Mahlathene “Bull” Moropa congratulated his team on a good performance.
“I’m glad that we managed to win the game, though it was tough as our opponents didn’t make it easy for us to win.
“We are now looking forward to the rest of the tournament and with great team spirit, I believe we can make it to the finals. We are going to train very hard in our training session from now on, and we will not make the same mistakes we made today,” Moropa said.
According to Milano FC coach Phillip “Ma-Phil” Tebele, both teams played their hearts out and he was happy with his team’s performance.
“Our players played very well and no one is to blame for the loss, it was a team effort. The game was well-balanced though our players failed to score goals.
We didn’t use your chances in the first half, but what makes me happy is that we managed to play according our plans,” said Tebele.
