Polokwane City progressed to the next round of the Nedbank Cup after securing a 3-1 win against the African All Stars

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo outfit, Polokwane City progressed to the next round of the Nedbank Cup after securing a 3-1 win against the African All Stars during a match that was played at the Peter Mokaba Sport Complex on Wednesday.

Rise and Shine used their Premier Soccer League (PSL) experience to defeat the ABC Motsepe Legaue outfit. Luc Eymael’s side broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute through Pulane Tlolane who got a chance to fire a shot outside the eighteen yards.

The goal did not stop All Stars from attacking the opponents but they could not find a goal in the first 45 minutes of the game making the halftime score 1-0.

All Stars The visitors were not sitting back and did have a go at the Polokwane defence, but their final pass let them down.

The ABC Motsepe outfit got two chances to equalise in the 51st minute and 79th mark but their efforts were in vein. Polokwane City added yet another goal to their list after Salulani Phiri fired home a beautiful goal after 73 minutes to make the score 2-0. Walter Musona registered his name on City’s goal list after netting a goal in 85 minutes.

All Stars was granted a penalty minutes after Musona’s goal. The penalty was granted to ABC Motsepe outfit after Thapelo Tshilo committed a foul in the box. Mohau Motaung managed to utilise the opportunity to make the final score 3-1.
