PEPPS chess team checkmate rivals
Keen chess players from four local schools faced one another across the chess boards in the Clans Chess tournament hosted at Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS) on 31 May.
POLOKWANE – The participating schools were PEPPS, Pemps, Mitchell House and PCS and the learners were divided into teams of ten players.
They played three games each, and each game won counted as one point toward the school represented by the learner.
According to the Clans Chess tournament organiser and PCS chess teacher, Liza Davies, it was a friendly tournament whereby learners could display their individual skills.
Final results:
• PEPPS – 21,5.
• Pemp – 19.
• Mitchell House – 11,5.
• PCS – eight.
